Residents in Carlton are being encouraged to nominate inspirational young people for the 2026 4Uth Award, an annual initiative run by Nottinghamshire County Council that highlights the achievements of those who have overcome significant challenges. Nominations are open until 19 June 2026 for young people across the county who demonstrate exceptional dedication to their communities.
Now in its fifteenth year, the programme seeks to recognise individuals aged 11 to 19, or up to 25 for those with a disability. The council is inviting friends, family members, schools, and local youth groups to put forward candidates who have shown resilience or made a positive impact on their peers.
Councillor Rory Green, the council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Families, described the awards as a meaningful way to celebrate the personal milestones of local youth. He noted that the initiative provides a platform for young people to feel recognised for their efforts and achievements.
A panel of judges will review all submissions to select winners from each of the seven districts in the county. These district winners will then be invited to a ceremony at County Hall later in the year, where an overall countywide winner will be announced. Last year, 117 nominations were submitted, and Archie Matthews from Broxtowe was named the overall winner for his extensive volunteering work with his youth club and St John Ambulance.
