Residents in Cheltenham will see their bin collections pushed back by one day following both the Early May and Spring bank holidays in 2026. Cheltenham Borough Council announced the change on 29 April to allow the local waste contractor, Ubico Ltd, to clear the resulting backlog.

To ensure all waste is collected, crews will be working on Saturday 9 May and Saturday 30 May. Normal collection routines will resume on Monday 11 May and Monday 1 June, respectively.

Because some collections start as early as 7am, the council is asking all residents to ensure their bins, boxes, bags, and caddies are at the kerbside by 7am on their revised collection day. Residents who experience a missed collection can report it by visiting the council website or by calling 01242 262626.

The council also reminded households that they can now recycle food and drink cartons, such as juice, long-life milk, and soup containers, in their green recycling boxes alongside their usual plastics and cans. This service update has been available since 1 April 2026.
