Residents across Cheltenham are being asked to shape the future of local representation through a Cheltenham Borough Council consultation now open until 31 July 2026.

The online survey invites views on proposed boundaries that could create a new town council, redraw the edges of the five existing parish councils, and establish parished areas where none currently exist. The review affects Charlton Kings, Leckhampton with Warden Hill, Prestbury, Swindon Village, and Up Hatherley. Council leader Rowena Hay stressed the importance of the moment, saying it is vital that Cheltenham’s communities remain clearly and fairly represented as local government reorganisation progresses.

Paper copies of the consultation are available at the Municipal Offices and community venues during opening times. The current stage builds on a community governance review launched in 2025 that gathered early feedback on existing boundaries and gauged appetite for a town council. A separate consultation on the town council idea ran from 24 February to 29 March this year. If clear support emerges from the latest responses, the council will carry out further work before a decision later in 2026.
