A popular brewpub in Cheltenham is receiving a modern update as it prepares for its 10th anniversary celebration. The Brewhouse and Kitchen, located in The Brewery Quarter, closed its doors on 20 April 2026 for a refurbishment project and is expected to reopen to the public on Friday 1 May 2026.
The renovations are intended to add new accents to the existing furniture to create a more contemporary atmosphere. Despite the updates, the venue’s signature copper brewing kettles will remain in place, continuing to produce the range of beers brewed on-site.
To celebrate a decade at The Brewery Quarter, which is managed by Martin Commercial Properties, the brewpub will host a birthday party on Saturday 16 May 2026. For that day only, the venue will offer its own brewed beers and ciders at their original 2016 prices of £4.50, with cask ales available for £3.50 a pint. Head Brewer Matt Barr is also creating a special 8% ABV Double IPA for the event, and guests will have access to additional beers from the Brockworth-based supplier Shandy Shack.
The birthday festivities will include family-friendly activities such as face painting, children’s arts and crafts, and an open brewery session. Entertainment will continue into the evening with live blues music from 5pm followed by a DJ set at 8pm, all topped off with a celebratory birthday cake.
The event will also serve as a fundraiser for the brewpub’s charity of the year, Cheltenham Open Door, which provides support to vulnerable and isolated individuals, including those experiencing homelessness. Cheltenham BID, which represents nearly 800 businesses in the town, has highlighted the refurbishment as a positive development for the local hospitality sector.
