On 16 March 2026, the Gloucestershire Constabulary confirmed that seven men were arrested following an assault and robbery in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, after a man was targeted in the town centre early on Friday morning.

The incident happened at around 1:50 am on Friday, 13 March 2026, near Sef’s Steakhouse on Imperial Square. A man visiting from London was approached by a group who punched him before stealing his mobile phone and bank cards.

A police officer on patrol was flagged down by the victim shortly after the attack took place. Working with CCTV operators, officers used cameras to track the group through the town and arrested seven men within twenty minutes of the initial report.

All the stolen property was recovered and the suspects, who are all from the London area, have been released on bail while the investigation continues. This response follows ongoing efforts by the Cheltenham Safer Neighbourhood Team to use high-visibility patrols to keep the community safe.
