More than 150 hanging baskets, planters and troughs are being installed across the town centre as Cheltenham BID’s annual floral programme returns for the summer. Running from this month through to October 2026, the BID in Bloom displays will brighten balconies, walls and railings throughout the BID zone, aiming to create a welcoming environment for residents, visitors and businesses.

Cheltenham BID is coordinating the work with contractors PHE Greenleaf and Watkins Iles Limited. The displays are designed to reduce water usage while providing long-lasting colour, reflecting a growing focus on sustainability in the town’s planting schemes. Key streets and gateways will be targeted to improve the trading environment and enhance the visitor experience during busy events and festivals across the summer.

Local businesses have previously reported that colourful floral installations boost footfall and improve first impressions of the town centre. The BID in Bloom programme operates independently of the borough council’s own hanging basket provision, which was scaled back in 2024 as part of a shift towards perennial planting for environmental reasons.
