The High Street Car Park in Waltham Cross has officially reopened to the public as of Friday 1 May 2026. The facility had been closed for 20 months to support the town centre regeneration project.

According to Broxbourne Borough Council, the car park was utilised by the contractor Danaher & Walsh as a logistics base. Throughout the project, the space served as a location for storing construction vehicles and equipment, as well as providing office facilities for the workforce involved in the town centre improvements.

While the car park was closed, motorists visiting the town centre were directed to alternative parking options at the Eleanor Cross Car Park and The Pavilions Shopping Centre Car Park. The wider Waltham Cross Regeneration Project, which was funded by a £14.3 million grant from the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund, reached official completion on 1 December 2025.

The completed regeneration work has introduced a variety of upgrades to the town centre, including new pocket parks, bicycle stands, and improved lighting and street furniture. Additionally, the project delivered a redesigned one-way traffic system and new pedestrian crossings at Monarchs Way to assist with local traffic flow and accessibility.
