The Clacton Carnival Association has announced the annual festival will run from 7 to 16 August 2026 across Clacton-on-Sea, Essex. The ten-day event is a major part of the town’s summer and raises money for local groups through activities such as sandcastle competitions and a fete.

The street procession is expected to take place on Saturday 8 August 2026 and typically draws thousands of people to the seafront. Organisers say the festival supports “good causes” and smaller charities that often struggle to raise funds on their own.

According to reporting in the Clacton and Frinton Gazette, the association has raised more than £400,000 for hundreds of local groups over recent decades; local coverage specifies that since 1991 the association has raised over £400,000 for more than 300 charities and community groups. The organisation is registered at Companies House as Clacton Carnival Association Ltd (company number 05288625).

Local businesses and the tourism group Love Clacton are preparing for increased visitors around the Greensward and West Cliff. Clacton Pier is a key partner for the event and regularly makes donations to support the association’s fundraising efforts.

While the event supports the local economy, the street procession will require road closures along the seafront from West Road Car Park to Victoria Road for roughly 2.5 to 3 hours. Drivers should expect delays on the A133 entering the town during the main weekend events.
