Firefighters from four stations were called to a fire at Kazza’s Bar on Orwell Road late on Monday evening. The Essex County Fire and Rescue Service received the first reports at 11.53pm on 15 June and sent crews from Clacton, Colchester, Frinton and Weeley to the scene.
When the first appliances arrived, they found not only the bar alight but also a van parked nearby well involved in fire. Firefighters worked swiftly to bring both fires under control and made the area safe. No one was injured during the incident, the service has confirmed.
An investigation into the cause of the fire has now concluded, with the exact origin remaining undetermined. The service states on its website that it does not publish every incident—only those where there is an important safety message, a need to warn or inform the public, or something a little different. Across Essex, the fire service protects 1.88 million residents over 1,400 square miles, aiming for average urban response times of 10 minutes; in May this year the actual average was 9 minutes and 12 seconds.
The incident page on the service’s website has since been closed following the completion of the investigation.
