Families in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, can once again book nature-themed birthday parties as the Essex Wildlife Trust has reopened its booking system in late February 2026. The move restores a popular community service that had been limited or unavailable during the previous two years while the charity completed internal staff reviews.

The Naze Nature Discovery Centre is offering specific coastal activities for local children, including Seaside Explorer and Fossil Party themes. These two-hour outdoor events are led by professional education officers who help children explore the natural environment and hunt for fossils along the coast.

A standard party costs £175 for up to 15 children, and parents can pay £7 for each additional guest up to a maximum of 30 children. The trust requires a ratio of one adult for every five children to ensure everyone stays safe during the outdoor activities.

While the charity provides the guided activities, it is not currently providing food for the parties. Families may be able to use indoor or covered spaces at the centre for their own catering during the two-hour time slot.

This return of community services follows a period in 2024 and 2025 when these bookings were restricted. The move allows the trust to focus on youth engagement across its nature reserves, including local sites such as Colne Point and Howlands Marsh.
