Colchester and North East Essex CAMRA has announced a full season of beer and cider events across the region, beginning with the return of the annual Ale Trail.

Running from 4 April to 30 May 2026, the Ale Trail invites residents to visit 22 participating pubs across Colchester and surrounding villages. Participants who buy a pint or half of real ale or cider at the featured venues can collect stickers. Those who collect 20 stickers can exchange their completed cards at the 39th Colchester Real Ale and Cider Festival, which will be held at the Colchester Arts Centre in late May, to receive an exclusive pin badge and a £20 beer card.

The spring and summer calendar also includes several new and returning community events. The Victoria Inn will host its 3rd annual Cider and Cheese Festival from 19 June to 20 June 2026, featuring local ciders, perry, and food from the Church Street Deli. The same venue will later host the Filthy Keg Festival from 10 July to 12 July 2026.

Further afield, the Bishop Nick Brewery in Braintree is holding its annual Revelry Day on 21 June 2026. This Father’s Day event offers free admission and includes brewery tours, live music, and a hog roast. Meanwhile, the 5th annual Little Earth Fest is scheduled for 3 July to 4 July 2026 at the Edwardstone White Horse, focusing on sour and wild beers.

These events highlight the region’s long-standing brewing history, which dates back to Roman times. The local branch of the organisation currently has 908 members supporting these community initiatives.
