Colchester Castle Museum in Essex is opening for a gaming evening on February 27, 2026, where visitors can play board games and social games inside the historic building. The event allows friends and families to book tables in unique spaces like the castle prison and the Lucas Vault.

The museum is hosting the night alongside Ace Comics, a local hobby shop that has been in the city since 1981. Expert staff will be on hand to help visitors learn how to play new games and will provide a library of different titles for groups to borrow.

According to Visit Colchester, table bookings for groups of six start at £90, which is about £15 per person. The prison area is available as a premium space for a higher fee, and the larger vault can hold groups of up to 12 people.

The event runs from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM and is open to anyone aged 11 and over, though children must be supervised by an adult. Every ticket holder gets a soft drink and the chance to walk around the museum to see the exhibits and artefacts after the usual daytime crowds have left.
