Residents in Colchester, Essex, can look forward to a break from the rain as the Met Office predicts a period of dry and sunny weather between 1 March and 5 March 2026. This shift follows an unusually wet winter that the national weather service described as feeling like a season stuck on repeat. The improved conditions are expected to provide a reprieve for local commuters, parents, and outdoor businesses as the risk of surface-water flooding lowers.

Temperatures are set to rise above the typical March average of 10 degrees Celsius, with a peak of 15 degrees Celsius expected on Thursday, 5 March 2026. The chance of rain is forecast to drop from 80 per cent on Sunday afternoon to less than 5 per cent by Monday and Wednesday. These milder conditions and clearer skies mean residents will likely have more opportunities for gardening and outdoor maintenance.

Wind speeds are also forecast to calm down, falling from 28mph gusts on Sunday to a steadier 18mph by the middle of the week. This dry spell is particularly helpful for the Hythe area, where the Colchester City Council and the Hythe Task Force have been working to manage flooding on Haven Road. With less rainfall expected, the pressure on local roads prone to flooding from the tide and heavy rain is likely to ease.
