On 17 March 2026, volunteers from the Colchester Civic Society cleared 29 bags of rubbish from the city centre in Colchester, Essex, as part of a nationwide campaign to tidy up local streets.

The event was part of the Great British Spring Clean, which is an annual project run by the charity Keep Britain Tidy. This national campaign is taking place between 13 March and 29 March 2026.

This was the second group litter-pick organised by the society this year. Members and supporters worked together to remove what they described as assorted grot to help maintain the appearance of the historic city centre.

The Colchester City Council supports these community initiatives to keep the city looking its best. The society hopes that these regular events will encourage more people to help look after the local area in the future.
