Residents across Crawley, West Sussex, can now put forward their local heroes for the 2026 Crawley Community Awards after Crawley Borough Council opened nominations for volunteers and groups making a positive impact.

To be eligible for an award, nominees must live, work, volunteer, or study within the borough. The awards are designed to give formal recognition to “unsung heroes” whose hard work helps the local community but often goes unnoticed. The deadline for all submissions is midnight on April 10, 2026.

The annual event is organised by the council in partnership with the Crawley Observer and The Hawth theatre. London Gatwick is the headline sponsor for the 2026 awards, a role the airport has held since the programme began in 2015.

There are 16 different categories available for nominations this year, including awards for sports, culture, and charity work. Organisers are hoping for a high level of interest after a record-breaking 771 nominations were submitted by the public in 2024.
