Residents in Crawley should prepare for a wet and windy day on Wednesday 15 April 2026, as the Met Office warns of heavy rain and strong gusts moving across the region.

The forecast indicates a high chance of heavy rain, which is expected to peak at 4pm with a 95% probability of precipitation. Winds are also set to pick up throughout the afternoon, with gusts reaching up to 29mph between 2pm and 5pm. Temperatures will reach a daytime high of 17°C, though the wind will make it feel closer to 13°C.

Visibility is expected to be very poor during the morning hours, dropping to as low as 100 metres due to a combination of rain and fog. Drivers and commuters are encouraged to take care on the roads before conditions begin to improve in the afternoon.

According to Crawley Borough Council, the area is particularly prone to flooding during periods of persistent rainfall, as water volume can quickly overwhelm local streams and rivers. Residents living in areas susceptible to surface water should keep an eye on local conditions.

While the heavy rain passes, allergy sufferers should remain prepared throughout the week. While pollen levels are expected to be moderate on Wednesday, reports state that high levels of birch pollen are expected for the remainder of the week.
