Crawley Borough Council has announced a new series of free live music events called Summer Sounds to be held on the High Street in Crawley, West Sussex, starting in mid-June 2026. The performances are set to take place every Thursday evening from 5pm to 8pm and will feature a mix of local musicians and national performers.

Councillor Michael Jones, the leader of Crawley Borough Council, shared the plans during a council meeting on 25 March 2026. He said the project is a significant investment to encourage people to spend time in the town centre while helping local businesses such as bars and restaurants.

According to UK Music, music tourists spent 10 billion pounds across the country in 2024. Their research also shows that 62 per cent of adults think music and nightlife should be used to bring life back to local high streets.

The council says the events aim to create a lively atmosphere and support the town’s night-time economy. The initiative will showcase a variety of musical styles to make the area a more welcoming and entertaining place for residents and visitors during the warmer months.

These new weekly sessions will join other established local events like the Crawley Festival and the Crawley Fusion Mela. By providing a platform for community musicians, the council hopes to build on the town’s existing tradition of hosting free public entertainment.
