Residents in Crawley can enjoy a new series of free live music events throughout this summer as Crawley Borough Council launches its High Street Summer Sounds programme. Taking place every Thursday evening from 5pm to 8pm, the initiative aims to bring more visitors to the historic high street while supporting local businesses, restaurants, and bars.

The series begins on 18 June 2026 with a performance by The Cureheads, a long-running tribute band that recreates the sound and style of the rock band The Cure. This opening event celebrates the 50th anniversary of the formation of The Cure in Crawley. The launch night will also feature a performance by Brighton-based singer and songwriter Stephen Murphy.

The second event, taking place on 25 June 2026, will feature Crawley-based performer Mia Ardinez, alongside Brighton-born artist Gina Larner and singer-songwriter Alex Francis. These performances are part of a wider effort by the council to revitalise the town centre and boost the night-time economy.

Councillor Michael Jones, Leader of Crawley Borough Council, described the programme as a significant investment in the local area. He noted that the events are designed to create a welcoming atmosphere and encourage people to spend more time in the town centre. This project aligns with the council’s broader regeneration plans, which include the Station Gateway project and the Town Centre East masterplan.

Crawley town centre continues to be a major destination, recording approximately 15 million visitors in 2023. These new events seek to build on that footfall by offering regular entertainment during the summer months.
