A new Construction Hub has officially opened at Crawley College, providing residents with updated facilities to learn vital trades and gain access to skilled careers. The 500-square-metre space, which was formally opened on 11 May 2026, aims to help local businesses meet their recruitment needs while offering students hands-on training.

The facility is located within the college’s Longley Building and features specialist workshops and training bays designed for various trades, including plumbing. The project was funded through the Town Skills Fund and includes a focus on green construction skills, such as a new decarbonisation academy. The work was carried out with construction partner Amiri, a company that has previously delivered other building projects on the college campus.

According to Crawley Borough Council Leader Michael Jones, the new hub represents an “important investment in Crawley’s future”. Christine Bianchin, Principal of Crawley College, said the facility “creates real opportunities for our students and supports the future workforce of Crawley and the surrounding area.”

This addition to the college follows the launch of the larger Sussex and Surrey Institute of Technology building in October 2025. Together, these projects are part of a wider effort to expand vocational training and higher technical education within the region.
