The Durham Wildlife Trust is hosting a community litter pick at Crimdon Beach in County Durham on Sunday 15 March 2026. This event gives local people a chance to help protect coastal animals from rubbish and keep the popular stretch of sand clean for everyone to use.

The beach clean is part of a national campaign called the Great British Spring Clean, which is run by the charity Keep Britain Tidy. This year, the nationwide effort to clear litter from public spaces takes place from 13 March to 29 March 2026.

The Trust has been working for more than 50 years to look after nature across the region from the River Tees to the River Tyne. By holding events like this, the group aims to help residents take care of their local environment and stop waste from harming the natural coastal ecosystem.

This specific litter pick focuses on the shoreline at Hartlepool, which is an important site for regional wildlife. Organisers hope the activity will make the beach safer for both visitors and the animals that live there.
