Hampshire County Council has published its first official Biodiversity Duty Report, detailing how it protected and improved the environment across the county—including in Fleet—between January 2023 and December 2025. This new document outlines how the local authority is managing green spaces, planting trees, and supporting wildlife habitats across the region.

According to Hampshire County Council, the last three years saw the planting of more than 123,000 trees and the creation of 42 community orchards. The council also designated 225 road verges to be managed with specific grass-cutting routines to help plants and insects thrive.

In the local area, these environmental efforts are linked to projects like the wildlife improvements at Fleet Pond. Work led by Hart District Council in partnership with the county has also focused on creating new natural spaces for residents, such as the habitat restoration and new footpaths at Cross Farm House in nearby Crookham Village.

The Universal Services Select Committee will review the findings of the report on March 2, 2026. Following this discussion, the full council cabinet will meet on March 17, 2026, to consider the results and plan future conservation activities for the county.
