Hampshire County Council has confirmed a £633 million investment to build ten new schools, including a new primary school in Fleet, Hampshire. The plan will create 3,175 extra school places, covering 2026–2029, to meet the needs of families moving into new housing developments.

The new primary school at Hartland Village is now set to open its doors in September 2027. This school will provide 420 places for children living in the 1,500‑home development at the former Pyestock site, ensuring that local families do not have to rely on oversubscribed schools in the town centre.

As reported, the countywide programme also includes two new special schools for children with additional needs. The package also funds wider SEND expansions — including resourced provisions and satellite sites — designed to provide more local spaces for students and reduce the high costs the council currently pays for transport and private placements outside of the county.

The project is funded through a combination of Department for Education grants, council borrowing, and developer contributions. According to Hampshire County Council, this investment is a critical step in making sure infrastructure keeps pace with the growing number of homes being built across the region.

Local officials noted that approval of the school is a major milestone for Fleet residents. Reporting on the school’s estimated cost underlines that the plan provides greater certainty for families who have moved into the Hartland Village development.
