Residents in Fleet, Hampshire, are facing a day of heavy rain and strong winds on 12 March 2026 as a weather system moves through the region. The Met Office has forecast that conditions will get worse as the day goes on, leading to potential travel problems and surface water on the roads.
Forecasters expect wind gusts to reach up to 45mph during the day. While the morning may see only light rain, the conditions are predicted to turn into heavy, gusty downpours by the evening, with a 90 per cent chance of rain by 9pm.
Local people are advised to secure any loose garden furniture or outdoor items that could be blown away by the high winds. Hampshire County Council, which manages local roads and drainage, warns that the combination of wind and rain can create hazardous driving conditions.
The heavy rain is expected to spread across the region through the first half of the night. According to the latest flood alerts, the wet weather should clear by dawn on Friday morning.
