Residents in Fleet, Hampshire, are being told to prepare for a period of unsettled weather as heavy rain and high winds are forecast to arrive mid-week. The change in conditions is expected to bring travel disruption and difficult conditions for anyone planning to be outdoors on Wednesday and Thursday.

According to the Met Office, there is a 90 per cent chance of heavy rain starting at 6:00 AM on Wednesday, 11 March 2026. Wind gusts are expected to reach 28 mph on Wednesday before increasing to 40 mph on Thursday, 12 March 2026.

The combination of wind and rain could lead to slower commutes and difficult driving conditions across the town. Homeowners are advised to secure any loose items in their gardens before the strongest winds arrive on Thursday.

There is also a risk of surface water flooding, particularly in low-lying areas near the Fleet Brook and Pinegrove Stream. Historically, streets such as Reading Road, Aldershot Road, and the Pondtail area have been identified as having a higher risk of flooding during heavy rainfall.

The Environment Agency provides updates on local flood risks for those living in vulnerable areas. Hampshire County Council remains responsible for the local infrastructure and flood strategy to help manage these weather events in the community.
