A 27-year-old man has been sentenced to 18 weeks in prison after stealing hundreds of pounds worth of food and alcohol from a petrol station near Fleet, Hampshire. Bobby Robinson, of Ratcliffe Road, Farnborough, appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on 23 February 2026, where he admitted to seven counts of shoplifting.

According to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, Robinson targeted the BP fuel station on Prospect Road. The thefts took place on seven separate occasions during February 2026, with the total value of the stolen goods reaching approximately £850.

The investigation was led by the Farnborough Neighbourhood Policing Team, who used CCTV evidence to identify Robinson and bring him to justice. PC Kiana Austin stated that retail crime has a significant impact on local businesses, staff members, and the wider community.

The conviction is part of a wider effort by the Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner to reduce shoplifting across the region. Officials say that focusing on repeat offenders helps to protect businesses and improve safety for shoppers on the high street.
