Residents and visitors in Folkestone, Kent, are being told to prepare for a period of strong winds starting on Wednesday, 11 March 2026, which may cause minor disruptions to travel and outdoor activities. The high winds are expected to impact the coastal town throughout the middle of the week.

According to the Met Office, wind gusts are forecast to reach 39mph on Wednesday. The wind is then expected to pick up speed, peaking at 47mph on Thursday, 12 March 2026.

The weather service warns that wind gusts at these speeds can blow people off course or affect their balance. These conditions are likely to make walking difficult and could impact local transport and outdoor plans in the area.

Coastal areas are particularly prone to rapid changes in weather and wind speed. While there is currently no official severe weather warning in place, the Met Office notes that the unsettled conditions are caused by the region’s position between different pressure systems.

People in the community are encouraged to stay cautious as the conditions develop mid-week. The windy weather is expected to affect both travel and outdoor events until the weather pattern changes after Thursday.
