The New Folkestone Society is holding its annual general meeting on Saturday 30 May 2026 at the Cornerstone Centre on Castle Hill Avenue in Folkestone. The event, which serves as a yearly gathering for the local charity, will combine formal business with a historical presentation on Coolinge Lane.

Doors for the meeting will open at 2pm, with the proceedings beginning at 2:30pm. Admission is £5, which covers the cost of refreshments. Attendees can book their places through the society’s website.

Following the annual meeting, local history researcher Hilary Tolputt will give a talk focused on the history of Coolinge Lane. The area is known for its long-standing educational institutions, including the Folkestone School for Girls, which was established in 1905, the former Eversley College, and Sandgate Primary School. Ms. Tolputt has previously presented research on the area to the Folkestone & District Local History Society.

Founded in 1974, the New Folkestone Society operates as a charity to support the built environment across Folkestone, Cheriton, and Morehall. Matthew Jones, who has served as chair since November 2021, noted that the society works to promote local heritage and architecture to ensure developments remain to the benefit of the whole community.
