Residents in Folkestone, Kent, can join a new series of weekly singing sessions starting Tuesday, February 10, 2026. The Showtime Choir is hosting the evenings at The Harvey Grammar School to help people meet new friends and learn songs from popular musicals.
The group focuses on music from West End shows, Broadway and Disney films rather than traditional classical pieces. These sessions are open to everyone, and there are no auditions or requirements to be able to read music.
Musical Director and founder Alex McNeice (who founded the choir in January 2023) started the choir to give people a fun way to sing without the pressure of professional standards. The weekly rehearsals will take place every Tuesday from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM during term time.
These meetings will also help the group prepare for the Music in May festival held later this year. This festival is a major part of the local Folkestone Music Town project, which brings many live performances to the area.
The choir has used the Harvey Grammar School hall for rehearsals and performances since 2023. Organisers say the sessions are a simple way for local people to get involved in the town’s artistic community.
