Residents in Folkestone, Kent, are being encouraged to nominate local heroes for the 2026 Excellence in Volunteering Awards to celebrate those who give their time to help others. This annual event highlights the efforts of people and groups who provide essential services across the district.
The awards are organised by Kent Coast Volunteering in partnership with the Folkestone & Hythe District Council. There are six categories to choose from, including individual volunteers, youth groups, corporate teams, environmental projects, and the trustees who help run local organisations.
All entries must be submitted by April 17, 2026, at 11:45 PM. The winners will be announced at a special celebration on June 4, 2026, held at Harbour Church on Canterbury Road.
Support for the event also comes from Eurotunnel and The National Lottery Community Fund. Last year, the Romney Marsh Community Hub took home the top prize, and the trustees at the Folkestone Rainbow Centre were honoured for their work supporting families in financial crisis.
