The Folkestone Central neighbourhood team is increasing its presence in the local area as warmer weather approaches. Officers from the Shepway Community Safety Unit are stepping up patrols, particularly in areas like Radnor Park, to address reports of anti-social behaviour and drug use.

PC Kerry Duncan, the local beat officer, has noted that increased patrols are necessary to manage community concerns, especially with crowds gathering at the former sports centre site and upcoming events like the fair taking place from 11 June to 21 June 2026. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to maintain safety in public spaces as more residents spend time outdoors.

Safety initiatives in the town have been supported by a £271,351.60 grant provided by the Home Office through the Folkestone & Hythe Community Safety Partnership. These funds, awarded in October 2023, have been used to upgrade local closed-circuit television networks, supply trauma kits to venues, and establish new Neighbourhood Watch areas.

The current policing activity builds on past efforts, including the national Safer Streets Summer Initiative that took place throughout the summer of 2025. During that period, collaborative work between the police and Folkestone & Hythe District Council enforcement officers resulted in the identification and arrest of four individuals following joint operations.

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant, as official data from January 2026 indicates that violence and sexual offences remain among the most commonly recorded crimes in the area. The local policing teams, overseen by a sergeant and inspector, continue to rely on community reporting to help manage safety across the district.
