The Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear is hosting a free Under the Sea family disco on 19 February 2026 to help parents keep children entertained during the school half-term break. The event will feature two sessions of music, dancing and creative crafts inspired by the gallery’s headline exhibition For All At Last Return.

There are two sessions running on the day: the first from 10:30–12:30 and the second from 14:00–16:00. While the event is free to attend, families must book their tickets in advance because spaces are expected to fill up quickly. Tickets can be reserved via the Baltic website or Eventbrite.

Children and their families can enjoy themed dancing, watch short films and take part in craft workshops at maker stations. These activities are based on the For All At Last Return exhibition, which examines marine ecosystems and the ways artists address ocean health and stewardship through film, sculpture, photography and installation.

The gallery is a highly accessible venue with large glass lifts and a dedicated Sensory Room on Level 2 for children who might need a quiet break from the noise. According to Baltic’s visitor information, families can request sensory bags (which include ear defenders) from Baltic Crew at the Hello Desk if they find the music too loud.
