Local shoppers in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, can buy handmade gifts this February as the Valentine’s Showcase comes to the Metrocentre shopping centre. The event will run from 12 February to 15 February 2026, offering unique presents from independent businesses. The showcase is designed to give residents a chance to support regional makers while finding one-of-a-kind items.

Organised by The Crafters Roadshow, the event will feature 30+ independent traders from across the North East. Visitors can browse stalls for items such as handcrafted silver jewellery (past participants include Thornley Silver), as well as bespoke cards, ceramics and stationery.

The market is free to enter and will be located in the mall’s high-footfall areas, typically in the Lower Green Mall or Town Square (near House of Fraser). Stalls will be open from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM on Thursday and Friday, 9:00 AM until 7:00 PM on Saturday, and 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM on Sunday.

Shoppers driving to the Metrocentre can use the free parking, with the Green and Blue car parks recommended for the quickest access to the market. The centre is also served by regular bus and train services to the Metrocentre Interchange.

The event is part of a wider push to bring more local businesses into the mall following a busy 2025 for the shopping centre. Along with the gift stalls, families can visit local attractions such as the Peppa Pig: Surprise Party immersive experience or Treetop Adventure Golf during the February half-term period.
