A new Peppa Pig live experience is set to open at the Metrocentre in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, in spring 2026. The attraction, called Peppa Pig: Surprise Party, will offer families an interactive journey through themed rooms featuring games, meet-and-greets and live performances.

The project is developed by Immersive Everywhere under licence from Hasbro and will cover 19,000 square feet. It is designed specifically for preschool children (roughly ages two to five) to step into life-sized sets replicating the shows world.

Visitors will be able to take part in a roughly 105-minute (about 1 hour 45 minute) experience that uses projection technology and physical sets to recreate familiar scenes from the programme. While the main attraction is still being fitted out, a themed shop called the Peppa Pig Market opened in late 2024 at the shopping centre as an early retail preview for families.

This new development is part of a wider strategy to add entertainment and leisure to the area as the Metrocentre pivots from a traditional retail focus into a “mega-leisure” destination, filling large vacant units left by department-store closures. It is expected to boost local visitor numbers for weekend family trips and special occasions.

The site is easy to reach by public transport: the X66 CentreLink service runs from Gateshead Interchange approximately every 7 6 minutes during the day, and there are direct train services from Newcastle Central Station taking around 70 minutes (Metrocentre cites c.7 minutes). The centre also offers almost 10,000 free parking spaces for visitors arriving by car.
