Residents in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, can look forward to warm and dry conditions for most of the week before the weather turns unsettled for the Bank Holiday weekend. According to the Met Office, Friday 1 May 2026 will be the warmest day, with temperatures reaching 22°C.

These dry and settled conditions throughout Thursday and Friday offer an ideal opportunity for outdoor activities, gardening, or a walk along the River Tyne. The forecast, which was last updated at 6:06am on 30 April 2026, shows a low chance of rain until late in the week.

However, the outlook is set to change as the Bank Holiday weekend begins. The Met Office warns that conditions will become more changeable starting on Friday. Deputy Chief Forecaster Tom Crabtree noted that rain and showers are expected to spread from the southwest, with some potentially heavy or thundery bursts over the weekend.

By Sunday, residents can expect overcast conditions and a drop in temperatures to around 12°C. While the coming days provide a pleasant break, those with plans over the Bank Holiday period are advised to prepare for more unsettled weather compared to the sunshine experienced earlier in the week.
