Gloucestershire County Council is hosting a meeting on 4 March 2026 at The Swan Inn in Coombe Hill, Gloucestershire, to discuss a new £46.7 million community project. Business owners and residents are being asked to share their thoughts on the plan, which includes new houses, a care home, and a fire service training centre.

The project aims to replace a dilapidated highways depot with modern buildings, including a new depot facility and between 100 and 150 new homes. According to Gloucestershire County Council, the development will also feature a new training site for the local fire and rescue service.

The inclusion of the new training facility is expected to save £9.8 million in capital investment. It will also mean fire crews no longer have to travel out of the county to Avonmouth for their practice sessions. Local leaders want to know how the building work and the arrival of new residents might affect jobs and transport in the area.

The hub is linked to ongoing improvements at the A38 and A4019 road junction, which are part of the wider M5 Junction 10 portfolio. If the formal planning application is submitted this summer and approved, construction on the site could start by the end of 2026 or in early 2027.

People can visit the drop-in session at The Swan Inn on Wednesday, 4 March 2026, between 3:30pm and 7:00pm. This is the final opportunity for the community to give feedback before the council submits its formal planning application.
