The Museum of Gloucester is taking part in the Gloucestershire Holiday Activities and Food Programme this summer, offering three free creative sessions for eligible children across July and August.
Brick Builders Club launches on Saturday, 11 July, followed by the Creativity Cart on 18 July and Time Travellers Tales on 25 July. Each session runs from 11am to midday in Wheatstone Hall and repeats once in August, on the 8th, 15th and 22nd respectively. The activities are for children aged 4 to 11, with 14 places per session for Brick Builders and Cart, and 20 for the storytelling group. A parent or carer must stay throughout, but does not need to book.
Funded by the Department for Education, the HAF programme is open to children from reception to year 11 who receive benefits-related free school meals. All bookings must be made through the Gloucestershire Family Hubs booking system at familyhubs.gloucestershire.gov.uk. The museum, run by Gloucester City Council, has joined the countywide scheme for another year, helping keep children active and engaged during the school break.
The museum’s regular Brick Builders and Creativity Cart clubs run year-round, but the HAF-funded editions are the only ones offered at no cost to eligible families. This summer’s dates give families across Gloucester a chance to secure a place in a small-group creative workshop inside the museum on Brunswick Road.
