The Museum of Gloucester in Gloucestershire is launching a series of low-cost dragon-themed activities and children’s workshops to entertain families from March 28 to April 12, 2026. These events are designed to provide affordable options for parents and carers looking for things to do with young children during the school holidays.

A central part of the programme is a family trail called The Dragon Who Sneaked Away, where children search for a character named Dorothy the baby dragon hidden throughout the museum galleries. Visitors who successfully complete the trail will receive a special dragon sticker as a reward. The trail is suitable for children aged three and older.

Two specific hands-on sessions will also take place during the break, starting with a LEGO building workshop on April 4, 2026. This will be followed on April 7, 2026, by The Deerhurst Dragon storytelling and craft session. According to local history from the Gloucestershire Archives, this story involves a serpent that lived in the area until it was defeated by a man named John Smith.

While the family activities take place, the museum will also continue to host a portrait exhibition by photographer Emilie Sandy titled The Time is Now. This exhibition will remain open until the end of the Easter programme on April 12, 2026. The museum is a council-run venue and aims to use these events to encourage more people to visit the city centre.
