A new Asian restaurant named Ceylon Moon is set to open at 107 Barton Street in Gloucester, Gloucestershire, after securing a new alcohol licence. The business is moving into a building that was once home to a hairdressing salon and a sewing shop called The Fabric House.

The restaurant was recently granted an alcohol licence by the local city council, which will allow the sale of drinks between 8am and 10pm every day. This follows earlier work in December 2025, when the owner received permission to install a kitchen flue at the back of the property.

The new venture is expected to create 10 jobs for the local community, including four full-time and six part-time positions. Owner Anton Soosaimuthu is behind the project, which aims to bring a vacant shop back into use and support the city centre’s evening economy.
