REACH Haverhill in Suffolk has updated its rules to state it can no longer accept or hand out baby formula as of February 13, 2026. This change follows national guidelines and comes during a major safety recall affecting several popular milk brands.

The Food Standards Agency has issued a recall for products made by manufacturers like Nestlé and Danone, including SMA and Aptamil. This is due to a contamination issue found in 800g packs with expiry dates reaching as far as October 31, 2026.

The UK Health Security Agency is currently investigating 36 cases of illness in children linked to the contaminated milk. To prevent any accidental distribution of the affected batches, donors are being urged not to leave baby formula at local collection points, including the Tesco on Cangle Road or Sainsbury-s on Haycocks Road.

Parents in the community who need help getting baby milk should now contact health visitors, family support workers, or social services. More information on how to find these alternative support routes can be found on the REACH Haverhill website.

The foodbank is asking residents to continue their support by donating other essential items such as toiletries and hygiene products. These donations remain in high demand and help the charity provide safe support to local families in need.
