Haverhill, Suffolk, will experience a short spell of unseasonably mild and sunny weather today and Wednesday before rain and wind arrive later in the week. According to the Met Office, temperatures on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, and Wednesday, February 25, 2026, are expected to reach between 14°C and 16°C. This is significantly warmer than the usual February high of 8°C for the area.

The brief dry window gives residents a chance to finish outdoor tasks or garden work while the sun is out. However, conditions are set to change on Thursday, February 26, 2026, with a 60 per cent chance of rain. Wind gusts are also forecast to pick up, reaching speeds of up to 32mph by the end of the week.

The return of wet and windy weather may affect the local market managed by West Suffolk Council on Friday. Shoppers and market traders should prepare for blustery conditions, and drivers using routes like the A1307 may face difficult travel conditions due to rain and spray.

National flood warnings are currently in force according to the Environment Agency, meaning the ground is already very wet. Because the soil is so saturated, the additional rainfall expected on Thursday and Friday could lead to further flooding issues in the local community.

Residents are encouraged to secure loose items like garden chairs and bins before the winds strengthen on Friday. This short period of unseasonable warmth is expected to end as a more typical unsettled weather pattern moves in from the coast.
