Residents in Haverhill, Suffolk can now get face-to-face help with money and housing every weekday without needing a referral or an appointment. The charity REACH Community Projects has launched a new schedule of daily drop-in sessions across several local buildings to make it easier for people to access professional support.
These sessions, known as Welcome Spaces, offer practical help with searching for jobs, completing complicated forms, and understanding the benefits system. According to the Suffolk InfoLink directory, the service is designed to be a safety net for the community, providing immediate assistance to those who may be struggling with the cost of living.
Each day of the week features a different location, including the Chalkstone Community Centre on Wednesdays and St Mary’s Church on Fridays. Henry Wilson MBE, the charity’s chief executive, told Suffolk News that they wanted to create a space where residents are treated with respect while getting the hand-holding support they need to get back on their feet.
The charity, which is registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, recently received funding to staff these hubs with trained advisors. These team members are available on weekday afternoons to help people claim missing income and find long-term solutions to housing or financial problems.
