Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council is keeping a close watch on a business at 3 Chapel Street in Barwell, Leicestershire, as it prepares to open its doors again this week. The council is working with the owners to make sure they follow local rules after people living nearby raised concerns about how the building was being used.
On 28 February 2026, Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council issued a legal order known as a temporary stop notice to the premises. This required the business to stop all activities while officials carried out a formal investigation into complaints from the local community.
To move forward, the business owner has confirmed that the venue will now run on a membership-only basis. The bar must also shut by 11pm to make sure it operates within the existing rules for this type of business.
Council officials plan to keep the stop notice active for the time being. This allows them to take immediate action if the business fails to stick to the 11pm closing time or uses the building for anything other than an approved bar. The council also confirmed it will continue to monitor noise levels at the site to address ongoing concerns from residents.
