Residents in Hinckley, Leicestershire, are set for a period of dry and settled weather starting on 2 March 2026, following an exceptionally wet start to the year. According to the Met Office, high pressure will build from the west, bringing more sunshine and a much-needed break from the persistent frontal systems that have dominated February.

The change in weather follows a difficult month where widespread flooding caused significant disruption across the county. Local reports indicate that 2026 has been one of the wettest on record for the East Midlands, with emergency services responding to numerous flood-related incidents and road closures throughout the Hinckley area earlier this month.

In the Hinckley area, villages such as Sharnford were particularly affected by rising water levels during recent storms. Outlets reported that the sustained rainfall left several roads impassable and impacted local businesses, many of which are still recovering from previous severe flooding events in recent years.

While the outlook is improving, the Environment Agency noted that flood warnings remain in place for parts of Leicestershire as of 26 February 2026. The upcoming dry spell is expected to help saturated ground recover and allow local authorities to continue maintenance on flood-hit infrastructure.

Forecasters expect temperatures to stay near or slightly above the usual levels for this time of year, though some patchy frost is possible overnight. This settled period is predicted to last until the middle of March, providing a more reliable window for gardeners and outdoor event organisers to plan ahead.
