Families in Hinckley, Leicestershire, can take part in a free Easter Bunny Trail through the town centre from 28 March to 12 April 2026. The event is organised by Hinckley BID (the town’s Business Improvement District) and is designed to give children a fun outdoor activity during the school holidays while encouraging people to visit local shops.

Children will follow a set of clues to find bunnies hidden in shop windows across the town centre. Participants can pick up a clue guide to help them search through the main shopping areas around the Crescent and Castle Street; the trail typically involves around 10 businesses (the exact number of participating shops can vary each year).

Those who find all the hidden bunnies can submit their entries to win prizes. Prizes typically include chocolate treats and vouchers to spend with local retailers, though exact prizes and sponsors vary from year to year and should be confirmed with Hinckley BID.

Steve Wegerif, director of Hinckley BID, said the trail is one of the biggest family events of the year and helps showcase what the town’s businesses have to offer. Local news coverage and BID materials have highlighted the event’s role in driving footfall into the main shopping area.

The trail is timed to run during the Easter school holiday period in Leicestershire: according to Leicestershire County Council, schools finish for the spring break at the end of the spring term (last day of term Friday 27 March 2026) and reopen for the summer term on Monday 13 April 2026, so the event falls within that holiday window.

The Easter Bunny Trail has become a regular seasonal tradition in recent years and is part of the BID’s wider events programme that aims to keep the town centre busy and vibrant; Brio Media’s case study of the BID’s 2022 family treasure hunt documents the event’s digital and in-person iterations and local impact.
