The Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council has released updated waste and recycling calendars for residents in Hinckley, Leicestershire, to help households prepare for upcoming service changes. The calendars, which were updated on 9 February 2026, cover the 2025/26 collection year and provide details for bank holiday arrangements; the council notes it makes collections on bank holidays apart from Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, and asks residents to check their calendar for full details.

The council is reminding residents that all bins must be placed out by 7:00am on their scheduled collection day to avoid missed pickups. The council guidance states: “Please remember: all collections begin at 7am, including the recycling and food waste services. Please ensure your recycling, refuse, garden and food waste are available by this time.” This instruction applies to recycling (blue-lidded) bins, general refuse (black) bins, brown garden waste bins and the forthcoming food waste caddies. The council says food waste will be collected weekly on the same day as residents’ usual waste and recycling collections; while collection days should remain the same, the time that crews arrive at each street may vary as routes are updated.

The updated schedules also prepare the community for a weekly food waste collection launching in March 2026. The council says the new service is mandatory under national legislation and is fully funded by central government; it also states that no increase is planned to council tax to pay for this collection. As part of the rollout, households will receive a kitchen caddy, a starter roll of liners, and an outdoor food waste caddy which will be emptied weekly.

Residents who subscribe to the garden waste service must also follow the early-morning deadline for their brown bins. The council provides an online “Set location” tool where people can look up their exact dates by entering their address and can view/print the calendar; those who cannot use the internet can request a paper copy by contacting the council (telephone: 01455 238141).
