Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council has confirmed that its free summer concert series will return to the town centre this year. The Music in the Mead events will take place at Argents Mead in Hinckley, Leicestershire, across ten Saturdays between 9 May and 19 September 2026.
The season starts on 9 May 2026 with a special themed performance by Julie Sings and Rob Wilson to mark the 82nd anniversary of the 82nd Airborne Division’s arrival in the town, which will be commemorated with the unveiling of a new plaque. This opening event will also include a stilt-walking character called Mr Biggles. Other acts set to perform later in the summer include the four-piece rock band The Alternatives and the group BoomBox Betties.
The concerts feature a variety of musical styles, such as vintage swing, indie rock, and brass band music. The park itself has won the Green Flag Award every year since 2016 and is home to the Grade II listed Hinckley War Memorial. This monument honours local residents who lost their lives in World War I, World War II, and later conflicts.
All shows are free to attend and will run from 1pm until 3pm. Deputy Leader Cllr Mark Bools said the events are for all ages to enjoy together and encouraged residents to bring along their own chairs and picnics. The concert series will come to an end on 19 September 2026 with a performance by the Arden Quintet.
