The Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) has issued flood safety advice for Hinckley, Leicestershire, following a period of sustained heavy rainfall. LFRS updated its public safety advice at 14:00 on 6 February 2026 after local brooks reached high levels that could threaten homes and roads.

Emergency workers are monitoring Sketchley Brook, Battling Brook and Harrow Brook for signs of overflowing. Residents can check the current status of local waterways and any street-level warnings on the government flood website (GOV.UK Check for Flooding) for the latest updates.

Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council is advising residents in low-lying areas to consider property-level protections and says it may provide sandbags as an emergency response; residents should contact the council for guidance. Leicestershire fire crews have also warned drivers to avoid flooded roads — LFRS guidance notes, “Six inches of fast-moving water can sweep away a 4×4,” and urges people not to attempt to drive through floodwater.

The current warnings come just over a year after the January 2025 major incident when LFRS declared a major incident in response to widespread flooding across the county. Local authorities say they are monitoring the situation closely and are ready to provide assistance if conditions worsen.
