Recent data from Leicestershire Police shows that 43 crimes were recorded in Hinckley town centre, Leicestershire, during January 2026. This total represents a 14 per cent decrease from the 50 incidents reported in the previous month of December 2025.

Violence and sexual offences were the most common issues reported, making up 17 of the total cases for the month. Other recorded incidents included seven public order offences, five counts of anti-social behaviour, and four reports of criminal damage or arson.

The month began with an incident shortly after midnight on 1 January 2026, when police used a Taser on a man and a dog after an officer was reportedly bitten in the town centre. On 16 January 2026, a man died after he was found unresponsive in an alleyway on Lower Bond Street.

Police Commander Inspector Neil Whittle and the Hinckley Business Improvement District are working together to increase police visibility in the area. Officers are using targeted patrols in busy parts of the town to help lower crime rates and improve safety for shoppers and businesses.

The latest figures show that crime in the area has dropped significantly since its highest point in September 2025, when 64 crimes were recorded. Local police sergeant Gary Butterworth and beat officer PC Darren Measures are continuing to focus on these safety trends to support the local community.
