Huddersfield town centre will host a series of free live music performances on 21 June 2026 as part of the global Make Music Day celebration. Organised by Huddersfield BID, the event will feature a wide range of local musicians performing across the town throughout the day.

The local festivities are part of a larger international movement that began in France in 1982. Now held annually across 125 countries, the event is designed to make music accessible to everyone. In accordance with the principles of Make Music Day UK, all performances in Huddersfield are free for the public to watch.

Residents can enjoy 14 different performances between 10am and 5pm. The music will take place at a variety of local spots, including Turntable Coffee & Vinyl, HMV, Costa Coffee, Waterstones, and several pubs in the area.

The event is supported by a partnership between Huddersfield BID and local businesses, including cafés, restaurants, and retailers. These businesses contribute to a funding pool that helps support services and improvements within the town centre. This initiative is part of the BID’s current five-year programme, which runs from 2024 to 2029.
