Huddersfield parents and carers can now claim free premium access to the EasyPeasy app under a new Kirklees Council programme that went live on 1 July. The council has commissioned the digital resource to provide thousands of age-appropriate activities for children from birth to age five, covering wellbeing, bedtime routines, nutrition, speech and language, mindfulness, and play and communication.
Tom Brailsford, Executive Director for Children and Families at Kirklees Council, said: “We know the early years are vital to a child’s development, and parents and carers play the most important role in helping children learn, grow, and thrive. The EasyPeasy app supports this fragile period by offering simple, practical ideas that can fit into everyday family life. We are delighted to be able to offer free access to families across Kirklees and support parents with accessible tools and advice whenever they need it.” The app, developed by parents and child development experts, draws on everyday household items and routines to turn ordinary moments into playful learning opportunities.
The push dovetails with the local authority’s “Best Start in Life” priority and the national target for more children to achieve a good level of development by the age of five by 2028. The app itself has already logged a 97% satisfaction rate across its partnerships with other councils, reaching more than 411,000 children and 214,000 families. Early years practitioners are also encouraged to use it alongside Kirklees’s existing family support programmes, which include the Kirklees Parenting Together service and the Stronger Families Programme.
Parents and carers can download EasyPeasy now from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
